My Life of Travel was conceived and created by three serial travellers and IT contractors who now live permanently in London. Having worked together on previous IT projects and become good friends along the way, their creation of the site was as much about building something for themselves as it was about providing a platform to other travellers.
Calan Horsman, Founder
Calan is a keen traveller, having recently notched up country number 20 on his travel map. Travelling to London for the first time in 1996 Calan met a friend whose wall map, with pins in all the world cities he had visited, sparked the idea that led to the launch of My Life of Travel in 2005.
Calan has spent 11 years building web applications in the technology industry, most recently as CTO of Medicexchange- a leading medical imaging portal.
Going further back, Calan was the CTO of the Playshare Gaming Group where he developed the industry's first online white-label casino deployment system, and a bespoke affiliate system that provides real-time gaming statistics to over 3,000 affiliates.
When not consumed with new ideas, he can be found battling to the finish line in endurance races, playing cricket or reading.
Lachlan James, Founder
Lachlan is a seasoned traveller - 14 countries and counting - and frequent snow boarder. He is also a senior web application developer who has spent 7 years building enterprise web applications for large corporates in the financial sector, including the Royal Bank of Scotland, DrKW and, most recently, one of Europe's largest hedge funds, Marshall Wace in London.
Lachlan has vast experience with content management and large-scale mobile applications including a messaging auction system run through Channel Seven television during the Rugby World Cup.
As a typically sporty Australian, Lachlan can often be found on the slopes with his snowboard, or spending his Saturdays on the cricket field.
Haim Bener, Founder
Haim is an avid traveller, with 14 countries notched up on his world map.
A senior software engineer and technical architect with 11 years experience building enterprise web applications, Haim has architected large-scale imaging systems within clustered environments and has developed CRM billing systems and communication tools for companies including Orange, Vizumi and the Playshare Gaming Group.
On the rare occasion that he is not stationed behind a computer terminal, Haim can be found socialising with friends or travelling the globe.
