Granny's 80th Birthday

Saturday |

Got up to see all the snow gone. Very disappointed. But was comforted by a huge breakfast buffet. The Wallaces and Watsons turned up while I was in the pool with Granny. We then played some badminton, Ian and I beating Uncle David and Rachel, but then I lost the next game.

We had lunch in the winter garden, and then in the afternoon i spent an hour throwing Ellen about in the swimming pool, with David, Michael and Jonathan.

After that it was time for the main celebration - a big champagne party in my parents' room. (how did they get a ground floor room?). Drink was drunk and cake was eaten.

We then had a bit of a rest before the evening meal. This time I had the same tiger prawns (different chef - much nicer tonight!) to start, then a beautiful corn-fed chicken dish whose sauce seemed to just be a block of butter melted over it. Then for dessert I had a chocolate cup with raspberry mouse in it. It was absolutely out of this world!

Then we went through to the ballroom and winter garden where there was a ceilidh. Granny had great fun teaching Alexander to dance!
