Stopped over at Chetumel on my journey from Belize to Mexico, briefly, with just enough time to visit the fascinating Museo de la Cultura Maya, split into 3 levels representing the Mayan worlds of life, afterlife and the heavens which explained their settlements, temples, trading patterns, astronomy, arithmetic, hieroglyphs, calendar etc. Lots to reflect on for the three hour bus journey to Tulum, a lovely place with beach and breathtaking cliff-top Mayan ruins, if you can cope with the heat and tour buses from Cancun. Still, wiled away a couple of days on the beach, ruins and cenote (cave) snorkelling; definitely not for the claustrophobic. |
Locations Visited: Chetumal, Tulum
