Northern France

The last day of the tour was a short one. With a ferry to catch after lunch, we only really had the morning to fill. First stop was to a Calvados producing property, Christian Drouin's. We had a tour with the owner who explained the whole distilling process and then sampled some of the product. Some of these things had a high (60+) alcohol content so it was a good way to kick off the morning! :) After making a few purchases it was back on the bus and on to Honfleur.

Honfleur was a great surprise. A gorgeous little fishing village that was the place of our last lunch in France before heading back to England. A group of us found a restaurant selling the local produce fresh of the boat and settled into a delicious seafood meal. I had a little accident with some mussel juice (the waitress spilt it all over me) but someone was on hand to quickly mop up so it wasn't too bad (or smelly). During lunch while talking to a fab kiwi, Rachelle, we discovered quite bizarrely that we would again be spending the next week together....on the same tour to Turkey for ANZAC day! What are the chances!

We left Honfleur, I think all of us wishing that we had more time to look around the town and headed to Le Havre to catch our ferry. Much more exciting crossing the channel during the day then the night and I passed the time sampling Johnny's finest with Rachelle and Anthea. Oh, and after 4 days of drizzle and rain, the sun came out as we boarded the ferry! Typical!

I had a great easter weekend in France. I saw Normandy and the D-Day beaches which were on my must see's during my time here and also met some great people.

Next up, Turkey.

Locations Visited: Honfleur, Le Havre, Portsmouth, London
