New Zealand 2005

Full Circle: Back to Auckland | 24 Feb 2005

I woke up early on Thursday morning to take Missy a bit out of town to the QE II Natatorium, one of the finest swimming pools in the Southern Hemisphere. But I got there too late to swim (open lap swim was already over) so I had to settle for a souvenir swim cap.

After breakfast I said my goodbye to Missy and caught my flight back to Auckland and back to Xavier and Remy's place. That night I caught one last swim practice with Team Auckland, and afterwards they took me out for a few drinks at O'Hagans and then to Hydrant.

After a few drinks there, I was feeling happy and nostalgic on my last night in NZ and decided to get up on my chair at the bar and give a toast. I don't remember the exact words, but I raised my glass, said a few words about how much I loved New Zealand and looked forward to coming back, and had the whole crowded room join me in the cheer. Immediately after, Remy grabbed my shoulder and told me it was time to go home.
