Easter in Prague |

Happy Easter to everyone!! I had a great day on Easter Sunday. What is different here, as opposed to Easter in the States, is that Easter Monday is also considered a holiday! I loved it because school was cancelled and it was celebrated with equal importance as the prior day.

Unfortunately, our day ended up being a very cold one. My 3 roommates and I decided that we would like to get dressed up and go to mass, but little did we know that in an agnostic society they don't typically get dressed up for church. Needless to say, we were the odd ones out but at least we felt pretty :) We went to the cathedral at the castle and mass was run by the Czech Cardinal and was all in Czech. While we couldn't understand a word that was being said, we still enjoyed it tremendously because we were in a building that was hundreds of years old. The experience brought a wonderful chill to my skin as I imagined the various Kings and townspeope that have graced it's presence. I have never in my life had such a profound experience.

After church we decided to warm up n a little cafe' with latte's and apple chocolate cake. After we felt up to par we went to a girls house that is from the States and has lived here for a year. She is doing a teaching program here and was throwing a mimosa Easter party. It was wonderful to meet fellow American's who have lived here for a year or more and coudl provide some insight on what we should be expecting. After a few bottles of champage we were feeling lazy and fulfilled so we went to our apartment to sleep a little before our long evening.

This wonderful Easter was capped off with a fantastic night at the Reggae club that I went to the first night I was in Prague. We danced the night away to the best reggae music while meeting people from all over the world. I now have personal tour guides in Austria and Berlin :) It is so amazing to go to a pub or a club and meet people from so many different countries. So far on my trip I have met people from South Africa, Spain, Italy, Austria, Berlin, Brazil, South Carolina, and Hungary. And this is only after 2 weeks! I am very excited to see what my future time in Prague brings and the people I am destined to meet.

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter and are enjoying Spring time! Thanks again for taking the time to share my experiences with me :)

loves,
Shauna
