Middle Eastern Adventure (Jul-Sep 2005)

Cappadocia |

Cappadocia is one of the coolest must visit places on any trip to Turkey. We stayed in a fairly sleepy town of Urgup, and visited the ancient Christian settlement of Goreme.

The wind swept landscape of Cappadocia is surreal - described as the craters of the moon with its eroded natural rock formations as well as man made underground cities, caves and even 'cathedrals' carved out of the soft volcanic stone.

Some of our group went ballooning so thanks to Cherie for getting up early and sharing the awesome photos of Cappadocia from up high

Locations Visited: Goreme, Urgup

Wow, some amazing photos. I visited Cappadocia last year and was completely taken aback by the lunar landscape.
