2006 Summer Holiday in Europe
|We took Easy Jet flight from Krakow to Berlin at 9 in the morning. As usual, there was one-hour delay. In the Berlin airport, we bought Euro 20 'welcome card' which covered unlimited access for public transport in city centre for 48 hours.
After checking in hostel (Berlin International Youth hostel) and taking shower, we started to explore Berlin City. We spent 4 days 3 nights in Berlin. I would say it was a good place to stay but we lost our way to reach the hostel from airport.
Hmmm.. let me teach you a trick to budget your trip. We got a brochure from city tour travel agency and followed the map provided to visit interesting places by taking public transport.
Unter den Linden, Berliner Dom, Alexanderplatz, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Gendarmenmarkt, Reichstag are the recommended places to visit.
We learnt a lot of history with regard to the cruelty of the Germany military (under the command of Hitler) to exterminate Jewish in the Second World War.
We went to flea market Juni-Flohmarkt on Thursday. Unfortunately it was only available during weekend.
We had wonderful stay in Berlin. I loved Berlin as people there were friendly.
