THE HOT ADVENTURES OF A NOT COLD BIATCH

Riobamba - home of the grossest hostel in the world |

Myself, Kristian, Heinekan and Stu (who was adopted into our group) were all ready bright and early to catch the bus to Riobamba! Nicky, true to form, was in her own little world and made us late and miss it (I joke. I am notorious for never being ready and I was revelling in the fact that it was someone else for once letting the team down =) )

Nicky and I went off to amuse ourselves in the time we had to wait for the next bus and bought some super delicious nail polish - bright pink and orange! Kinda nauseating but made us happy.

Blah blah blah, bus ride, blah blah.

Arrived in Riobamba, all jumped into the back of a ute (a word the Poms found hilarious), got to the hostel of our choice, found it booked out so went in search of another. Kristian and I found two that were okay. One was twice as expensive as the other however and I wanted the cheap one. Perhaps we didn´t have the lights on when inspecting it because it was only later that I realised how incredibly repulsive it was. The floor was dirty with tissues from the previous occupant, the walls were grimy and mouldy, the floor had big holes in it so that we could look to the floor below and the chandelier - well, it was just amusing to have this crummy little chandelier in which only one of the bulbs was working in this disgusting room.

However, we luckily bumped into one of the boys we went rafting with who was part of a tour group - a studly American named Brian (who had a girlfriend as advertised by his favourite t-shirt). He brought along his fellow tour member, a lovely English rose named Anton. We went for dinner with them and then invited ourselves back to their hotel to delay our return to the rat-infested hell-hole. We sang and drank and played cards in a cosy way.

I may have lost my way back to our hotel and didn´t return with the rest of Team Baños that night.
