San Sabastien, Spain |

If you're looking for a place to visit where you can really dip your toes in the local atmosphere and experience genuine culture outside of tourism.. visit San Sabastien.

The small city is located in a cove off the north shore of Spain. Unfortunately we weren't blessed with fabulous weather, but for those of you who will be, they have white sand beaches. One is calm water, and the other is surfers beach with huge waves. This town was very classy and well maintained. I loved San Sebastian.. the people were so nice to us (excluding the ticket window guy at the train station).

On another note however, no one spoke English except the cashiers at Mc Donalds.. but that's just because 'BigMac' is the same in every language (haha). The owner of our hostel didn't speak one word of English, but somehow.. he managed to have full fledged conversations with us, show us a map of the town, point out where everything was and be very successful with it all. I would recommend learning the basic questions in Spanish (how much, when, where etc) if you're going to be travelling outside of the major cities in Spain.
