Well, the day after Mum and Gran left I went, with a whole load of my friends in tow, to see Darrel perform in West Side Story. It was really good to finally see what they’d all been working toward for so long – and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I of course thought Daz was the best of the lot, but I may be (very) slightly prejudiced! It was a really fun night, and we went out with the cast for drinks afterward, which was fun too!

I’ve basically spent a whole lot of time catching up with my friends, as I was starting to feel like I hadn’t seen some of them in months (and some of them I hadn’t!) so I’ve been doing dinners, drinks and shopping excursions, and just generally enjoying seeing people!

On the 2nd of October I had the pleasure of facing my first tube strike (having managed thus far to be out of the country whenever they occurred) and decided that instead of facing it I would much rather take the day off and go shopping with Nic in Kingston, which was a far more pleasurable way of spending the day! I got a fabulous pair of Diesel Jeans, and a couple of other slightly more boring items, but it was fun!

The weekend before last was a real “bumper” birthday weekend – kicking off with drinks for Angie’s birthday at “Curtains Up” in Baron’s Court. It was so lovely to see Ang, as well as Mel and Meg, and some other people gradually started turning up… we eventually retired to Angie and Ash’s flat, bought in some wine and some gorgeous Phillias Foggs, and eventually got home pretty late. Saturday was Mike’s birthday and we met up for drinks at Bar 126 in Clapham. It was always going to be messy, but exceeded all expectations when Darrel discovered Absinth…

Next morning, feeling a bit the worse for ware, I was off to Angie’s again. Ashley offered to cook us all a full English breakfast as a celebration of her actual birthday, and Mel brought pastries to start off with and there was champagne… so a good start to the day, then! After that I went to Oxford Street to meet Kate for a wee bit of shopping – what were we thinking!?! We made it through H&M and then were exhausted by the continuous onslaught of tourists and needed tea, and did it in Style at the tea-room at the House of Fraser – very nice Indian blended tea.

I went to see xXx the other day, as it looked pretty good – and Meggie sent me an e-mail saying “Don’t you just think that Vin Diesel is SO HOT!?!” So, feeling a bit aged, I thought I better go find out who the hell this guy was. Well, it was an excellent movie, I particularly loved the sky-diving / snowboarding scene (with a “just jump, you pussy!” from Darrel next to me), although I have to say that Meg, your taste ‘aint what it used to be! I do however love getting all those e-mails from my baby sister (who’s not so baby anymore, mind!) although they make me realise more than ever how much I miss my family and that they’re just growing up without me! Meg, this is a big thank you to you for never forgetting me, and even worrying about me when you don’t hear back from me for a bit. I love you, my littlest (but tallest) sister!

On Sat the 19th October I went to a formal dinner with Darrel’s theatre group, the Cygnets, who like to do things in style. They’re really a fun crowd, especially the boys who are just flirts and hysterically funny! We also had a new housemate, Mark, move in. He’s another English bloke, from Liverpool, and I can’t understand half of what he says, but I’m learning!! He’s really nice, and although I haven’t seen all that much of him since he’s moved in I think he’s going to be a pleasure to live with. On Sunday, Sue (who now works for EMI), got Nic, Meg and me free tickets to see Cold Play live at the Wembley Arena, which was fantastic! When I told Darrel he immediately tried to convince me to let him have the ticket instead, but no way!! It was really fun and a great way to spend a Sunday evening.

Last week I went round to Kate’s house for dinner, my gosh has she got a beautiful house! It’s right on the river and even has a deck going right out to the water – beautiful! She cooked a spectacular meal, and showed off the presentation skills she spent many years learning in the Kitchen at Melissa’s! :)

OK, catching up fast, last Thursday I took Darrel out to dinner as a little pre-birthday celebration because we were going to be away for his birthday (coming up…). We went to the Blue Elephant, which is a famous Thai restaurant on Fulham Broadway We had our coats taken at the door and then walked inside…the whole restaurant is shaped like a boat and has the most amazing décor. As we walked inside there were a few beautifully traditionally dressed ladies that bowed to greet us and then one came forward to take us to our table. She led us through an absolute wonderland of trees and plants, along wooden bridges that crossed over streams with fish swimming along – really beautiful and quite exquisite! We got to our table and were presented with a cocktail menu – and we of course had to have one to celebrate Darrel’s birthday – and also the fact that we’ve now been together six months! I can hardly believe it!! So anyway, after a great champagne cocktail, we moved on to a nice bottle of wine and ordered four starters and two mains – just because we couldn’t make up our minds and we wanted to try all of them! We had the best spring rolls I’ve ever had, as well as paper prawns, dim-sum and saté skewers as starters, and Darrel had a (three elephant – meaning very hot!) Thai curry and I had the duck in tamarind sauce, which was really incredible (So good that Darrel re-named it Orgasm Duck!). It was an absolutely lovely meal and one I’ll not soon forget!
