Inside England

Stonehenge & Bath |

Well, it only took me almost 10 months but I finally managed to get my arse out of London and see a bit of the UK!

The destiniation for this little day trip was the Heritage listed Stonehenge and then on to the old Roman city of Bath.

Petrie and I set off from London to nearby Slough where we caught up with Josh and Tamara Lee from Merbein. We jumped in their car and set off into the countryside.

I'd heard both good and bad things about Stonehenge. Some people say it's a big disappointment, some say it's amazing. Either way I wanted to find out for myself and I must say I was pretty impressed. It actually turned out to be bigger than I expected and really leaves you wondering exacly how they managed to stand those stones up all those years ago.

With Stonehenge done, it was back in the car and off to Bath. This old city was gorgeous. Originated during times of Roman occupation, it looks and feels like an ancient city and walking the streets was pretty good fun. It's home to the Heritage listed Roman Bath's and although we had a quick look, we didn't do the whole tour thing.

We had a late lunch and then headed off towards Bristol which was only 10 miles away. It ended up being a drive through the city centre and then back on the highway for the trip back to London.

I'm glad I've finally managed to get into the UK countryside and I hope to do a lot more day and weekend trips in the UK once the weather warms up a bit. There's so much more to see here and I need to get crackin! :)
