North America Travels 2006

Banff |

Today five of my group - Kate, Rich, Mirco and big Rich went up the Banff gonadla. Big Rich and I paid $23.50 to ride up, while the others decided to walk up the mountain. It took Rich and I 8 minutes to get to the top, and it took the others an 1.5 hours to walk. They said it got harder towards the top because the track was covered in snow and ice. Both Kate and Rich kept losing their footing, while Mirco just walked through with no problems! Big Rich and I walked went up onto the roof section and there were distances to specific locations around the world, so of course I had to find Australia! We then went for a walk across a boardwalk to a little cabin, that had once been used for a weather station, a man had lived on top of this mountain to watch the weather! Able to see the township of Banff and surrounding mountains. Amazing view! It was about 10C cooler up there. It was a very warm day, the locals were guessing that it was in the early 20's, it certainly has been the warmest since I been over here! When we got back to camp, found out that another guy had left the group, he just left a note saying BYE! now we are down to eight!!!
