Sat. 27 Dec. To breakfast with Vaughn and Tammy at The Bakery. Calan met us at 11.15, then took us by tube to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. Very interesting and modern displays. Saw an excellent exhibition of first-prize-in-the-world wildlife photography by accidentally slipping in the back door we did not have to pay. Then outside to the Earth From The Air exhibition of giant size photographs. Lovely sunny day, but a piercing cold wind blowing. Then to the Science Museum and downstairs to the lunar module. Dark and suddenly claustrophobic. Rose had a queer turn and had to get out (!) Des and Calan very kind. We went home and he bought lunch (cold chicken) at Sainsbury’s. And that was enough for that day. Watched Part 1 of “The snow Queen” with Tamlyn.

Sun. 28 Dec. Thank you, Lord, Des much better. Now the rest of us have colds. We left home at 9.30 a.m. and went by tube to South Kensington. The weather was fine, though not sunny. Walked to Holy Trinity church in Brompton Road (not far). An old building, but the interior is painted in modern orange (i.e. the ceiling) and there are T.V. screens at intervals so that all can see well. An ordinary (modern Methodistic) service. Thereafter walked back to the Victoria and Albert museum to see the Schwartzkov crystal Christmas tree and thence to Knightsbridge especially to visit Harrods – and it was closed! Toooo many people, so came home again by tube (quicker that the bus). Home by 3.30. Vaughn and Tammy were out visiting friends till late, so we watched the rest of “The Snow Queen”, then went to bed.
