THE HOT ADVENTURES OF A NOT COLD BIATCH

Arequipa and two Aussie bogans.... sweet relief |

I've finally got the words to our pathetic song that Nicky and I wrote forever ago for our favourite Aladdin look-alike when we parted.... Unfortunately it seemed a lot better at the time.... It goes as follows:

(To be sung to the tune of 'A Whole New World')
Unbelievable pain
Indescribable sadness
Listen Kristian you must know that
When you left we cried
[Note: I had nothing to do with this sentence. I did not cry unlike little blubbery Nickycontiki and I wanted to say that when Kristian left we checked out his ass]

We just won't laugh again
We just can't cope without you
Let us, Kristian, confess to you that part of us has died.

A whole new world
(Don't you dare squelch again)
A new but sadder point of view
Noone to cook us snacks
Or help us pack
Or hug Nic when she's dreaming.

How beautiful is that? We've all become so corny and sentimental and 'emo' as Chils would put it. Bron doesn't know how to take it when I say the soppy stuff she so likes but which I hate to deliver. Kristian's blog has become sloppygallopy - tears almost sprung to my eyes when I read it (what is it about travelling that brings out the corniness in everyone??!) Though he also included UNTRUE statements about me clearing out the hostel on my birthday due to my 'lady fluffs'. I DON'T THINK SO!!

It was Bron's birthday, the first birthday we haven't celebrated together in years so I called her and, having had a few drinks, she said 'Ange, I love you' and I said 'I love you too Bron' and it was like we were lovers. Weird. And that's without mentioning the tears. No I am not a lesbian (Raynedrops, I swear!!) though a certain Dutch guy might be disappointed by that... but I'll get to that.

So, arrived in Arequipa, was very impressed with the prettiness of the place. I'd been told to avoid the place at all costs by the entire of the Slattery clan so I was expecting something awful. I was ripped off my a taxi driver who convinced me that the hostel I wanted to go to was nowhere near as good as the hole he took me to so I ended up being dropped off about 150m from where I wanted to be. Being the most disorganised person in the world, I had about 6 bags to carry (cos I can't manage to pack my stuff properly and fit it into the one bag. Also, I can't stop buying presents and souveneirs!!! Is there a 'g' in there somewhere?) and had a difficult time lugging all my stuff to the hostel I wanted. But I finally arrived and, after one look at the beds, decided I would sleep in my sleeping bag and use my travel pillow (turns out it was a good move...)

Toddled off to explore, had an extremely lonely dinner by myself (I can hear the violins) but tried to look like I was really busy by reading my Lonely Planet (I'm having a Lonely Planet bonfire when I get home - I hate the thing!).

When I got back to my room, my oh my, it was like Christmas - Santa had delivered me two thong-wearing, boardshort-donning, beer-drinking Aussie bogans from the sunny state of Queensland!! I felt truly at home when we were all in bed having a chat and Sim said to Ro, 'Pass me a beer wouldya?' and lay in bed sipping on his stubby.

Ro had an interesting head. The one on his shoulders. It was shaved. He'd spent two hours the previous day on Lake Titicaca. Not a good combination. It was blistered like nothing I had ever seen before - all yellow and pussy (hmm that looks bad... but you know what I mean). I've made him promise to send me a photo of it soon because I believe that the entire world should be blessed with such art and beauty that Ro provided me.
