Hi Yal, what a great website this is, we can upload our photos and write little notes for anyone who wants to have a browse. …
Started in Pattaya, bout 2 hrs south/west of bangkok. Everyone drives big brand new utes or little scooters, its crazy driving too, people pile into the back of the utes and just hoon around, they also drive the scooters down the freeway with no helmet with kids and babies on their lap.
Did the elephant ride at Pattaya, awesome!
Went out to a small fishing village where there was no tourists except for us, the people were very poor living in small little shacks, they sell their goods out front of their shack to make a living. Everywhere you go there is little market carts with people selling food and nic nacks.
After 4 – 5 days there headed up to Bangkok by bus. And caught a ferry up to Khao San rd, which is the touristy area, lots of backpackers and markets galore, loads a bargains.
The temples are fucking awesome! Did the grand palace (which was originally built for the King and Queen to live in) and the Emerald Buddha, and today just got back from the reclining Buddha, which is 43 meters long and 15 meters high.
So far the food is great, really fresh and no trouble finding good clean places to eat, have even done a little meat, touch wood.
Fuck it is hot though!!! Its like living on the sun, Everytime you go out you end up dripping wet, you don’t walk down to the shop you swim! We have found a great place to stay, we have our own balcony overlooking Soi Rambuttri rd, little market carts everywhere and the hustle n bustle of people (mostly white here) everywhere, were right opposite a temple where 100s of monks live.
Gotta go get me a beer chang, the local beer tastes great, chang means elephant!!!
