Middle Eastern Adventure (Jul-Sep 2005)

Crac des Chevaliers |

The Crac des Chevaliers (literally: Knights Castle) is a highlight of the tour. The Crac is a real fairytale castle perched high on top of a hill with a real Keep, embattlements and surrounded by two sets of walls and a moat. It looks as if it could have come from out of Lord of the Rings. The Crac was a highlight of our trip and one of my favourite historic sites! It was never taken in battle but given up by the Crusaders to the Muslims when they were abandoning the Holy Land at the end of the Crusades
