Helsinki, Finland |

I had the pleasure of the Heathrow Express direct from outside my offices straight to Heathrow! Yay! Daz and I had an afternoon flight to Helsinki to go and spend the weekend with his brother and sister in law. We got there at about 10pm, and Gaz, Darrel’s brother was waiting for us. We went to their flat and then they took us out and about, but we landed up drinking at a bar across the road, lounging on two lovely leather couches and just chatting. We then went home and ridiculously played this kids game called Kimble until 4am! Then Saturday was Darrel’s birthday, and after a much needed lie-in Gaz and Maija cooked us a fabulous English breakfast, and then it was present time… I got Darrel two really nice shirts, which I’ll admit was a bit of a boring present, but he did want some, but what he really wanted was a fountain pen and I got him a really nice Waterman, which he absolutely loves, so that’s good at least!

After presents we were off to town for a quick tour of the historical city. It really is a lovely city – and so clean! And by the time we were done with that, followed by a quick drink, it was time to go home to start getting ready because Gaz and Maija had asked loads of people round for a birthday party for Darrel, and we spent some time getting all the beers in the fridge, making dips and cutting cucumber and carrot sticks! Oh, and 26 cupcakes with candles for 26 years! It was a really good party, and I think Darrel had a really good time, and I think he really enjoyed spending it with people that he loves so much.
